Shiatsu Treatments

What is Shiatsu?

In Japanese, 指圧 (Shiatsu) literally translates to "finger pressure" - "shi" meaning finger, and "atsu" meaning pressure. This therapeutic approach originates in Japan, deeply rooted in the philosophies of traditional Chinese medicine.

The Philosophy of Healing

According to traditional Chinese medicine, the body is traversed by meridians—energy channels (Chi/Qi) connected to internal organs. When these channels become imbalanced, pathology emerges.

During a Shiatsu treatment I use a variety of techniques:

  • Precise pressure points

  • Joint mobilization

  • Gentle stretches

The ultimate goal is to remind the body of its innate healing capacity, allowing Chi to flow smoothly, and guiding the body back to a state of balance, health and relaxation.

Treatment Approach

The Shiatsu treatment offers flexibility to meet your unique needs. Traditionally performed on a floor mat, the practice creates a deeply grounding experience—an earthy, enveloping healing that feels like a nurturing embrace.

For those who find floor positioning challenging, I also offer treatments on a massage table, ensuring the practice remains accessible to everyone.

Throughout the session, you'll remain fully clothed, providing comfort and ease.

Holistic Healing

Shiatsu is remarkably versatile, addressing a wide range of conditions across multiple bodily systems:

  • Respiratory

  • Digestive

  • Orthopedic

  • Gynecological

  • Neurological

  • Emotional

This comprehensive approach stems from a fundamental understanding: body and mind are interconnected and nothing occurs in isolation.
